Five epistemic states

A proposition directly supported by the available evidence.
Institutional claim
What a record, authority or institution asserted, whether or not it was true.
Inference
A conclusion drawn from evidence but not directly stated or observed.
Contradiction
Evidence or claims that cannot all be accepted without explanation.
Uncertainty
What is unknown, missing, disputed, inaccessible or not established.
